Legal Management Systems: Scanning Solutions
Many of you might already be aware of programs such as PDF-Xchange Viewer, Adobe Professional, and PDFpen that allow for electronic editing of BIMs. These are all great options for Attorneys on the go!
However, while electronically editing BIMs is efficient, many of your Attorneys might prefer to make handwritten notes on paper.
Of course, this can be problematic when it comes to storing the revised copies. Many Firms hold onto them and have boxes and boxes of storage just for BIMs.
Are you seeking a solution? Well, Rippe & Kingston has a suggestion!
If you have the latest OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scanning technology to create searchable PDFs on your copier/scanner, this just might be the answer!
Once the Attorney has made handwritten notes on the BIM, we recommend that they are scanned back into electronic form on a monthly basis. You would then have one large, searchable PDF for the month. It would be easy to retrieve a BIM by its number utilizing the search function in your PDF viewer!
With this solution, everyone is happy. Attorneys can revise BIMs on paper and your Firm can store the updated BIMs electronically, rather than storing boxes of BIMs.

Legal Management Systems: Spotlight on the My Time Watchlist
Practice Management can be a challenge, but it doesn't have to be. Rippe & Kingston's LMS Watchlists are designed to assist Attorneys in easily and efficiently managing their practice.
Today, we wanted to showcase the My Time Watchlist, as it allows Attorneys to ask themselves the right questions:
- Are my levels of billable time sufficient?
- Am I meeting my budget hours?
- Am I exceeding my budget hours?
- Am I available for assignments? If so, is my team leader aware of my availability?
